Wine Tourism in Burgundy – Sense the Difference

We can thoroughly recommend Claudie Héline’s approach to understanding and enjoying the wines and foods that this rich area of Burgundy has to offer. Over the years Claudie has become a friend, and I have taken part in her workshops on several occasions. The courses are conducted in English, but with the added bonus of being able to improve your knowledge of French if you so wish.

Vines & Wines

This is the ideal course for those who want a informative and fun tour. It's open to all wine lovers whether they are experienced or, just enthusiastic amateurs.

See and understand the vineyards, « climats », appellations and grape varieties. Meet the winemakers and visit their estates. Discover the winemaking process in Burgundy, with all its agricultural diversities from sustainable to biodynamic farming. Explore the different steps in wine tasting through your senses, and in so doing, enhance your appreciation of the Burgundian white, rosé, red, and sparkling wines.

Tasting

Tasting workshop based around local products such as honey, oil, truffles...The opportunity to eat at good French restaurants, and discover some the Burgundian
dishes that make the region so famous.

Cooking

Participate to a themed cooking workshop in a chateau, guest house or wine estate. Match wines with food.

Highlights

Our aim is to work within a sustainable philosophy, and we take pride in ensuring that all our ingredients are organic.
The course is conducted in English, however we hope that in participating in these events it will increase your confidence in speaking French. We would be delighted to create a personalized tour for small groups or individuals and, if
necessary help you with local travel arrangements.

Claudie Héline is a cook with a degree in Product tasting and Sensory analysis from the University of Wine
(Suze-la-Rousse/France) and the Certificate of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust of London, member of the
international association Slow Food. She’s also a photographer.

Marilyn lives in the area and has a first-hand knowledge of the real Avallon and the country surrounding it.   Whether you are an Arthur enthusiast or just wish to explore Burgundy, we can recommend this book as an insight into the region and its rich history.
